2021

When I was first brought onto this project, it was to provide support for the junior designer on our team. We were provided with operator renders and a background image.

Since this asset was intended to promote a Call of Duty weapon pack that featured a combat medic, I decided to do some visual exploration. Some of the elements I explored were concrete flooring, blood, gauze, rope, knives, and first aid packs. These visual elements were pulled from what an actual combat medic would use and encounter when working in the field. Out of the exploration came the logo for the weapon pack. The logo treatment is based off of surgical steel and a name tag (similar to a doctor).

After doing some exploration, we found that the strongest look was the version that featured the operator in the background. However, we felt the composition could be stronger. I went in a built out a composited background using imagery from Adobe Stock, brush work, and the original provided environment screenshot.

Once we had explored different poses that my art director had rendered out, we landed on a pose. I composited the operator into the scene, added the items in, got the final comp cleared with our legal team and the client, and we finalized the asset.

We sent the beauty shot over to the Motion Graphics and Video teams, where they animated the asset and used it as an end card in a trailer.
