My team lead, Oz Deleon-Sulecio, shared the creative brief that the Consumer Marketing team had shared with us about the need for key art to promote the upcoming Alpha for Call of Duty®: Vanguard. This art would be used for web, social media, and in-game. We were provided with a few WIP screenshots from the game, a description of the new game mode, and a batch of photos from a shoot that we could use.

Step 1: Low Fidelity

I started by creating low fidelity mockups of possible layouts, while considering the different crops this art would need to be cropped in.

Step 2: Medium Fidelity Treatments

I then took a couple of the approved poses, and started to explore different medium fidelity visual treatments and compositions. I took inspiration from two different WWII movies: Saving Private Ryan and 1917.

Step 3: High Fidelity

After the client picked a direction, I created an entire scene from stock images, character photography, and a little imagination.

Outcome

Unfortunately, the creative direction pivoted last minute for the promotional material of Call of Duty: Vanguard, and this key art was no longer able to be used.
